Hi!

I have not had a lot of luck finding a digital input (optical/coax) solution that enables me to record digitally directly to my computer lately. I used to have a m-audio usb thing, but that would not work for windows 7.

So I was thinking I could use a cheap digital recorder with digital input instead. Does anyone have any advice? (or does anyone have any luck with a digital usb input device?)

This Tascam dr-100 mkii has a digital input and can be found new for any where from $175-225

Agreed - this is the best value.

The only others with digital in are the Marantz PMD 661 II and the Sony PCM-D100, both of which are more expensive.

Cheap, but only 16-bt maximum.

The Tascam DR100-II is a much better option.

MicroTracks have digi in (S-PDIF only) and can be had used for under $100.

Thanks for good advice 

I ordered one of those ADS things, that is definitely the cheapest option (found one for usd 15 on ebay), and if it works, it would be fine for me, as everything I would need to transfer is 16bit. It is mainly from old sources, DAT, minidisc and such. If this does not work right for me, I will consider a Tascam dr100mkII
