Tascam DR-05 vs Olympus WS-832
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:27:21 AM »
Hello to all the forum community,

I need some help to choose a suitable device for recording nature sounds, birds, or surveillance.

For price reasons, I've narrowed down the choice between these Pcm recorders:

Tascam DR-05 and Olymps WS-832.

I know that Tascam DR-05 should be superior, but I don't know if I need its extra features, or see any noticeable differences in audio quality for the intended use.

I like the Olympus model because it's smaller, has built in rechargeable batteries and supports scheduled  recording, but I don't want any compromise on sensitivity and sound quality.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

I don't like built in re-chargeables, when they go flat, you are without a recorder until you recharge them again.

I have a DR-05 which I run off re-chargeable AA's, when one set go flat, you just pop in another set and you're up and running again, and in an emergency you can buy some Alkalines and run it off those.
