Title: Rechargeable Battery Life
Post by: Josephine on June 18, 2006, 05:26:07 PM
What's the typical life for rechargeable batteries?
I've got some AA's that have received pretty regular use for a little over a year.
They don't seem to run as long as they used to.
Is it time to replace them?
(They're Powerex brand.)
:)

Yeah, They die after 2-4 years.
If you have a charger that can condition them, do that.

Is that the battery equivalent of making them stand in the corner and have a good long think about what they've done?

I use Powerex 9v's, charged in the Powerex charger...used the same 6 in a battery pack for a year and just replaced them all a few weeks ago.

i decommission mine after a year or so as well.  but, having said that, i have a pair of 1600 mah cells that i bought for oysterhead in 2000 that still juice non-critical stuff just like the day they were born.

I wish I knew you where thinking about getting some new "AA". CVS had 4 packs of 2500 mAH Energizer on sale last week for $7.99; the package I bought had instant $2 off coupons. On top of this CVS had a promotion if you bought $15 in Energizer batteries they put $5 on your CVS card. I have yet to figure out how I get all money I put on my CVS card though.

I have found the best batteries sales are usually from the various drug stores. I usually see the Energizer on sale every two to three weeks. It seems like Fry’s no longer put any on sale anymore.
