I don't know what, if anything, the so-called "DIN" microphone arrangement has to do with the DIN standards organization. I've never heard of any DIN standard for using microphones.
And historically, if there were any such standard, "mixed methods" (directional microphones spaced some distance apart) surely wouldn't be chosen, since they're not mono-compatible. Back in the 1960s and 70s that was still a major concern because the majority of televisions and radios were still mono, and the central European broadcasting organizations were state-owned, and legally responsible to serve the general public.
