Tonedeaf was the first to discover the Naztech and I swear by them. I tried running a 788T on a Tekkeon 3450 double and it did not like it at all--even running at 16V. So far so good with the Naztech.
What exactly don't you like about it? I've got a 3450i double and it's been good for powering everything except an AD2k+ which draws too much current on startup.
hi and lo, I was waiting for Boltman to respond. As a courtesy, I'll jump in.
I was recording with him when his Tekkeon 3450 (and that accessory power pack) prematurely stopped powering his 788. He mentioned that this had happened before and either the Tekkeon was getting old or as you mentioned there was too much of a current draw for the Tekkeon to be used with the 788 in the configuration he was using it (eight channels were being recorded to).
For what it's worth, I recall reading here someone saying that they had a Tekkeon fail on them (IIRC it was an overheating event) while powering their 788. This has been a couple of years ago that I read this.
I have no idea if this is the issue here, but as rechargeables age, their internal resistance increases. With high current draws such as you might have on a 788, maybe something to consider.
