Just checking to see if anyone runs this and how they like it?

Any samples would rule.

I think that is what I have been running for the past few months.  Are the st-8 and st9001 the same?

I have the the 3 wire batt/ pre with a burr brown chip.  Mine didn't have a model # when i got it cause it was the first one, but i think it is likely the one you are referring to.

I am very happy with mine.

Lmk your email and I'll send some samples.

To my ears it sounds clean.  Just like at853's with no/little distortion(I can't hear any).  My senns sound nice too but I have not used them with any other device or not heard anybody elses tapes with these mics.

If you don't want to pay for one of these but are having the distortion problems with the at853's then you may be better off with the 4.7k resistor mic mod.

Both will reduce the distortion,  but only one will power the mics properly and lower the noise floor but on the other hand like you said you have to pay for it.

Ive been thinking of the less expensive church preamp for my at853's
SP-CMC-4 (AT853) > SP-SPSB-1 (no rolloff) > Tascam DR-05

I don't think that is a fair statment.  If all items are new then the ad20 & ua5 are more $ and if all were sold second hand then i'm sure the situation would be the same.

Also they all perform different jobs for different situations.  For example the ad20 has no power and the ua5 is huge.

My plan is to move to  at853 > 3 wire church pre > r09..... so for me I would have no use for either of those items.
