I’m guessing 3k - 4K easy.

Potential purchasers should factor into the cost the fact that this will make you want to buy more mics to fill up those channels  ;)

looks cool, but can't imagine any tapers would have a need for 32 channels? even if you're running 4 sets of mics and a board feed (which is rather extreme to begin with), a mixpre-10T would serve just fine.

I've suspected as much for years but am now convinced SD has some sort of thing about only providing a limited number of standard-size XLR mic connectors on their multichannel gear.  Only 6 on this?  They couldn't fit just 2 more for 8?  Really?  I can rearrange the side layout in the photo to fit them in pretty easily.  Shift the headphone jacks down and make the side dimension of the unit just 3/8" to 1/2" longer and they will fit in line with the other 6.

Signed,
Guy who doesn't like having to use extra adapters for standard mic input.

"Mix-pre 10 does provide 8", notes the taper supervisor.

An oddly precise figure you want for your Kidney ;-)

I do want this so badly! However with that price $$$, I don't think it is on the cards for me this year.

The only thing which strikes me as very strange that I don't like (aside from the price! ha) is why so few AES inputs?? Odd for a recorder of this class in 2019

This deck isn’t for taper dudes. 😎 This is marketed directly to production sound mixers (film/video) like IronFilm.  Six full-size XLR mic inputs is all you need for film.  The balance of channels is likely to be wireless.  I wonder if this can simultaneously do playback while recording—that’s becoming a real set requirement that Zaxcom and Aaton can do.  Congrats to SD—this thing looks awesome, with a tiny form factor ta boot.

Price isn’t that surprising considering a new 788t goes for $6849.

Nice, but I don’t need that capacity.  And as noted, geared more for production sound.
