Yup: hard hat, lineman gloves and hot stick required for these in real life and they are not cheap either. 

I'm only building a movie prop with it so there are absolutely no operational worries or shock hazards involved.

DigiGal, tell us the story. did you use it for a prop, did it make the final cut etc? This thread "died" in SEP 2014, but you didn't answer if it was for the Zombies or not?  8) :o

Well the original fueled Vipers in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. I was actually building a full size replica of one of the screen used props from the Galactica's Hangar Bays which were auctioned off after production wrapped in Vancouver. The photos I worked from were photos from the Propworx auction catalog. The finished replica now lives on an adjacent wall in my basement electronics lab. It's room decoration that fits right in nicely complimenting my electronics workbench and rolling oscilloscope cart etc.  There's a full size replica of one of the Hangar Bay 1 - Repair Bay signs that's mounted above it.
