The last two shows I have taped have ended up having fuzz/static in what seems to be my right channel. Wondering what could be causing this? Running 483s > V3 > 661 and tonight ran 483s > V3 > DR70 with a newer set of XLR mic cables. Could it be my V3 or one of my mics experiencing issues? Any help, thoughts or recommendations/suggestions are appreciated. Really not liking the last two of my recordings due to this. What could it be if the V3 or what could it be if the mics? All gear stays housed in my gear bag and the mics in a Pelican.

Standard reply can you replicate this at home ? Wriggle connections , try different combinations of cables , inputs etc.

480 body is my bet. Looking at the same issue right now.

yep! should be easy enough to narrow down. take v3 out, try one mic at a time, swap caps etc etc.....

So after testing set up and cables/interconnects tonight, I first thought the issue may have been one of the inputs on the V3. However, I went through and tightened all the XLR connections so they were good and snug and tightened the screws on the mic bodies and never could seem to replicate the issue. I guess the next test will be running my current set up at a live show. I even dusted off the PSP2 and tested. No fuzz/static issues when testing with, etc. Will report back after the next show I record. Really hoping the last two recordings I made were simply due to loose cables/XLR's, etc.

did you use the same caps that you did at the show?
I did. I mostly run my ck63's. Thought about switching them to try out the ck61 or ck62, but once I didn't notice the fuzz/static, I just packed all the gear back up.
I see there's a punk band playing tonight (Radkey) that I could test out. Not sure I'd want to really drag out my gear and have it susceptible to a punk crowd, though. Even though the SBD booth at the venue is towards the back of the venue from where I would anticipate a pit may occur. Perhaps, I'll just wait for something a little less rowdy...

Seems like if the connection screw/spring is not fully tightened on the 460/480 bodies, there can be grounding issues.

Similar Topic, I noticed recently a low buzz sound in two of my channels on my 4 Mic Recorder. Recently I have been recording with 2 Sets of Mics > Tascam 70D.
Last Tuesday, these 2 sets of mics worked fine, but last night I noticed a buzz from my Superlux s502 > Channels 1 and 2, while the Rode M5's in Channel 3 and 4 were fine. I picked up a new cable recently, and was wondering if the proximity of the Mics together on the stand could cause this buzz.....Luckily I don't mix them until post show, so I was able to Salvage the Rode M5 Mics Source from a local band. Weird, going to test them out later at home, just curious if anyone else has seen this from using 2 sets of Mics on a stand.

So I just tested 15 different samples while watching the Phish webcast from Fenway tonight. I was not able to recreate the fuzz I've recently gotten on my last three live recordings. Would anybody be willing to give a listen to the samples I recorded tonight and a listen to one of the last shows I taped where the fuzz was present to see if they can hear something my ears can't hear?
The 15 samples are no more than 3 mins long and it won't take long at all to hear the fuzz on one of the recent live recordings. I can send the files via Google Drive is anybody is willing to see what they may hear, etc.
