Title: Input switch box?
Post by: thatjackelliott on November 10, 2017, 06:00:34 PM
I could use a balanced four-pole A/B switch box. That's two positions, A or B, each with four sets of balanced inputs. Selected input set goes to four sets of outputs. This could be described as a 4-pole, double-throw switch. Each pole wants to be balanced, so in terms of contacts, its an 8PDT switch. XLR or 1/4'' TRS, doesn't matter.

BALANCED INPUTS:
Position A: IN1, IN2, IN3, IN4
Position B: IN1, IN2, IN3, IN4

BALANCED OUTPUT:
Selected position (input A or B): OUT1, OUT2, OUT3, OUT4

Yeah, it's an odd item. I hope my description makes sense. Something rack mount would be good.

Thanks, guys.

If I understand, you have an (A) set of 4 inputs and a (B) set of inputs. You want to be able to rout all 4 A inputs to each of the 4 outputs or all 4 B inputs to the 4 outputs, preferably with a single switch.

Looks like maybe this will do it, but with separate switches (looks like they can be linked together)?

How about 2 of these, less $ and only 2 switches?

Hi jefflester, yeah you figured out what I'm after. Here's another option I stumbled across, two of them would handle my needs with a spare quad of intputs to spare:
