Topic: Best choice - external microphone for the Kodak Zi8 ???

Hi guys, got a Kodak Zi8 that I record parts of shows with.

Even though the sound it produce is quite good, it's only mono - and it easily gets distorted even at lower SPL's, like here in Sweden.

Anyone got a good choice for an external microphone to use with this?

I talked to mr. Church about this and we discussed building a custom T-mic to use, and that sounds swell but I figured perhaps someone has tried another model and have something to say about it?

I did a shootout of a few external mics, but my use is much different from a concert taper. I'm evaluating acoustic guitar recording for "look at me" YouTube videos:

It appeared from my experiments that the "external mic volume" setting also reduces the sensitivity of the internal mic, so that might be useful.

Most of the very low cost mics I've seen are omni, and two omni mics a few inches apart are hardly able to record in stereo - you'll basically have two channels of mono with a mic like that.
