Title: PMD 660 w/ Ridata cards?
Post by: dank on April 24, 2006, 06:34:20 PM
Well, I finally was able to 'move some things around' financially today so I can place the order for the ACM 660 from the Oade's tomorrow morning.
Talked to them today and I -should- have it before I fly to NYC for the 2 GnR shows!

Anyway, anyone using Ritek Ridata 4gb CF cards?
Found them online for $110.

thanks..... cant wait to run this unit

I dunno about Ridata but I've been using a Kingston Elite Pro 4gb card (now $145 at zipzoomfly.com, somewhat more when I bought mine) in my 660 and it works fine.  I'm recording in mp3 format so 4gb is almost infinite, and flash prices are falling very fast, so this doesn't seem to be a great time to spend a lot on flash cards.  Later this summer I'll either switch the 660 to an R09 (uses SD cards) or maybe buy some 8GB CF cards and start recording WAV.

I've been going to multi-day music events so mp3 format lets me record more or less nonstop for the whole weekend.  My buying criterion was 30 hours of recording, which would fit in 2gb, but I went for the 4gb card since I figured I'd always want more capacity and I didn't expect flash prices to come down this quickly (the ipod nano had caused a temporary shortage).  Meanwhile, 8gb cards are available and 16gb cards have been announced.  I guess with a 16gb card (plus my existing 4gb) I could do a whole 30 hours in 44/16 WAV.

Anybody try a Patriot 4Gb CF with the 660?
