Jukebox 6 & 20 Gig not the JB3 power
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:08:15 PM »
Hi all
I looked thru almost every post on remote power but didn't really see one for making a remote power supply for my Creative Nomad Jukebox 6 and 20 Gig units.  It's the one that comes with the 4 blue Creative AA rechargeable batteries.  I can't make it thru a set let alone a show with the rechargeables or even duracells and energizers.  Any help on making a d cell power supply for this or a rechargeable power supply.
Thanks alot
Joeski

I've never even heard of the NJB6...regardless,  I'm pretty sure only the NJB3 records.

Creative Jukebox (6gig) - records to WAV via line-in:

Creative Jukebox (20gig) - records to WAV via line-in:

If you want to use external power, you can make a 12v SLA system that will power your JBx for tons of time, run it through the car adapter:  http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=217&product=13882

I use a system like this for my JB3, if I need more than 5 hours...  It will last about 12 hours methinks.

So neither of these is the NJB3?

That's correct.  Creative made/makes the Jukebox (6gig and 20 gig), Jukebox 2 (???), Jukebox3 (only one with SPDIF).  They also make a JukeBox Zen...

My guess is that you can do the same kinds of power projects for the original nomad jukebox as we do for the JB3.  If it takes 4 AA batteries it probably likes around 5 volts.  Get a universal li-on battery followed by a rat shack DC stepdown and feed the appropriate plug into the back of your unit.  Joeski PM me and I'll send you some pics and we can discuss the details on how to put one together.
Take care of the tapers and the tapers will take care of you.
