V2> SBM-1 question
« on: February 11, 2004, 08:54:22 PM »
V2 has XLR and RCA ouputs, SBM-1 has RCA inputs.

what are the best outputs to use to go to a SBM-1?
is balanced vs unbalanced gonna matter?

Just go RCA > RCA. Get a nice set of Zaolla silverline's dual RCA cables.

you can get quality custom cables from Ed at www.kindkables.com.  Not everyone thinks that they "stack up" against the pure silver cables...and while they probably don't (based on a spec sheet anyway), a majority of people dont have a playback system to be able to hear the difference.

i run this combo, are you saying that it is just an attenuated signal or it is of less quality than the xlr output, if thats so, then i might need to get some xlr>rca cables instead of the HQ ratshack rca>rca cables i run now

going through the V2 manual, this is the only thing I can find that deals with what you are saying: (on specifications page)

MAXIMUM OUTPUT LEVEL:
Balanced       +27 dB
Unbalanced   +21 dBu

whats the difference between dB and dBu?
is this similar to the difference between "pro" and "consumer"
