Topic: SP-CMC-8 + SP-SPSB-11 + EdirolR-09HR - Where Am I Going Wrong?

I often see tapers having used SP-CMC-8 + SP-SPSB-11 + EdirolR-09HR to record concerts which is a set up that I have but for whatever reason doesn't work for me due to distortion.  It's mainly the drums that cause the distortion on the recordings that I have made.  I know that the battery box is plugged into the line in input not the mic input so wondered if the settings on the back, especially Mic Gain make a difference or maybe Low Cut or Limiter.  Any advice would be welcome as anyone with the same set up will know that a few quid has been used on this gear

open up the box and put a fresh one in? unless you literally just put a new one in there

4.7k mod?  Can't recall if this is one of the models that needs it...

I used the mics without a box when I first got them and again the recordings were distorted.  I'm assuming because there was no box involved that they go into the mic input and not the Line In input.  On another note, there are 2 matching mics connected to one input, will that make a difference?

For me 'line in' is too sensitive on r09hr, you should buy r05/r09/microtrack.

I'd be quite happy to lay out more expense if I knew they would all work together.  A possibility is maybe I've seen r09 and not r09hr on other tapers recording equipment.  I'm assuming that the r05 and r09 are older models than the r09hr?

r05/r09/microtrack will work for sure. 

r05 is the latest version.
