so i just got these mics: http://tinyurl.com/otsm9na
and was wondering if this are what i can use as a single point mount on a monopod for non-musical situations:  http://tinyurl.com/qz86chz

now, it says that it is 8mm wide, and i think i remember reading that the AT 853 series is 12mm. would they possibly fit or would they be too large and break them?

if anyone knows of any other similar mount to hold the smaller AT shotguns, i'd be appreciative if you could point me in that direction.  i'd like to do more nature and ambient recordings and figured i should get a nice shockmount setup  to do some handheld recordings in the field.

basically, has anyone run these smaller rycote series mounts with smaller AT 853 line of mics?

Don't know (don't use shotguns)
Probably
Cards work for most people, most of the time, although, some really like the deleted sub cards (someone lend me / sell me a pair please). I'll pick up some omnis at some point also..

thanks Humbug.  i'm going to order those screens and maybe just make up some dead rats myself when they arrive.

when i get the normal sized capsules, are there any locking-style screens for the at 853 model?  i thought i remember seeing some locking-style Shure screens sold in a 4 pack that would fit the 853 capsule/body, but now i cannot for the life of me remember where i saw them

edit:  found the Shure screens I was talking about above: http://tinyurl.com/shure-screens

The WST windscreen fits microphones 18-24mm diameter.

Those are too big. The ones in your first post should work, but probably won't work as well as the Movos. I'd just make some rats for scenarios where it's too windy for the ATs.

ahhh, thanks Brodie.  I must have read that damn page 3 times and didnt see that.  I like the design of those Movos, might be good for my other mics.

Yeah, they look nice (even for SDs) since they come in so many different lengths.

When I ran the AT853's I used the AT8117. They worked perfectly unless it was really gusty. In that case I had a set of Windcutter Stormchasers which worked great in that situation. Unfortunately Windcutter is no longer in business but you can find similar "dead rat" windscreens from a lot of different manufacturers these days.

Ok, now that the initial question has been answered (thanks!) I have revised the original post to a new question.  Thanks in advance.
