Battery question about 3-wire Battery box
« on: July 16, 2006, 10:26:01 AM »
hi guys,
I just got a 3-wire custom made battery box with mini XLR inputs and stereo miniplug output to use with my AT853RX mics and JB3.
the box is really small and has place inside for a 9v battery...my question is: when does the battery begin to take power from it?

I mean, it begins to take power since it's plugged into jb3 line in or only when the recording starts? I need this info as soon as possible cause I've got a taping-appintment tomorrow  :P

let me know and thanks in advance

The battery starts to drain when the mics are plugged in.  That is what closes the circuit.

so this means I can put the 9v battery in before and plug the mics to the battery box just before starting the recording, isn't it?

Yeah, that will work.

But why don't you just leave a 9v battery in there all the time?  It does not drain, so why take it out??  I don't see the problem.
