I sent yet another email to the custservice people at Tascam and this time they actually responded. They asked what application I was involved in that would need more than an 8GB card. As long as the ball is rolling, some of the other users my want to chime in. I said chime in, not dog pile. We'll have a stronger voice if we identify our needs as a segment of the customer base.

wow, they actually responded.  kind of a lame response, but at least they got back to you.  maybe I'll send another email as well.  at 24/192, 8 gigs is only 2 hours worth of record time.  there are plenty of applications where someone might want to record continuously for more than 2 hours.
