"It would make sense that the 480's sound good with the mini-me. From what I have heard on tapes and from other tapers is that the 480's have great highs and smooth mids, but not slammin lows, the mini-me will just warm things up and make the low end a little more pronounced. As I said before and will continue to stand by, its all about what sound you want and what mics you are using."

I couldn't agree any more with what you just said.
Before I got the minime, I ran an ad500e. I really liked the Apogee sound-That's why I chose it over the V3. Not to mention the USB port for my lappy.
Didn't you have for a while, the MMe and the V3?
I'm sure that in your case with the Schoeps, the V3 gives you more of the sound you are looking for. Did the MMe make the lows sound slightly exaggerated? Like it's often said..."Just trust your ears." I think the best way to spend your money on any piece of gear is to collect many different pre/ad sources used with the mics you own, or vice-versa.
