Bag dividers?
« on: July 14, 2010, 10:20:41 PM »
Not sure which sub forum to ask this in so it goes here:

I have a Mountainsmith bag that came with 2 dividers that run widthwise. What I really need is one divider that goes lengthwise. The 2 that come with it are too long when put end to end lengthwise. I checked my local camera shop and they didn't have anything. B&H and Adorama seem to sell them, but only in these huge sets of dividers which is way more than I need and more than I want to pay for.

Does anyone know where to get single dividers of a specific length?

one thing I have done in the past is gone to michaels and bought a sheet of 1/4 thick high density foam for 1.99 + stick on velcro tape 2.99. you can customize the size you want and then use the velcro tape to hold it in place.

edit:
something like this http://www.storepulls.com/products/Redi_Foam_Poster_Board_20_x_30_x_1_4_Red-196276-1798.html

What NOLA suggests is basically the same thing that Portabrace (they use hollow core plastic planks instead) includes with some of their bags and also offers as accessory kits which is quite a bit more money than DIY.  The Portabrace links demonstrate the product idea and can be useful for DIY variations, there is even a video.
