SMF Trader System - Detailed Feedback
Detailed Comment My first time out with these I experienced RFI. When I asked the seller about these, I was told that he never experienced any problems. Since then, I've put money into some of the best XLR connectors and shielded cables made - thinking this would eliminate the RFI. Nothing has worked.

While reading the Neumann forums today, I discovered that Jim did indeed know there was an issue with these mics:

I have been using a pair of Km184s for a while now and enjoy their sound on the chamber music work i do, but i have been running into a fairly regular problem that i dont remember ever having with other SDCs, like DPA 4011s, AT4051s, schoeps cmc64s, etc. i am, on occasion, picking up a "bz bzz ... bz bz bz", which someone told me was a cell phone re-establishing its connection with the nearest cell tower. it has wrecked more than one nice take, in that i do not know how to get rid of it, or how to prevent it.

any thoughts, suggest ions, tips on getting rid of it, etc, would be appreciated.

That message was dated February 2. Jim listed the mics for sale on February 22 without mentioning any known problems. Since then, I've had several otherwise good recordings ruined from RFI. I'm also out $800 that I could have used towards other mics.

The original FS posting never mentioned any problems with the KM184's, and then I was obviously lied to after the fact.
