that's a great idea about shooting at child sporting events for parents to get cool action shots of their kid!

I just want to throw out this site www.bludomain.com - they sell templates and you can get a nice cheap one for $100 (up to $800 for a shopping cart and password protected galleries) and can put different galleries in there.  My wife uses them (she is a professional photographer).

I just made a huge update to my site, although you probably can't see it.

I switched from simpleviewer to flickrviewer (http://www.sweeting.org/mark/flickrviewer/)

This now allows me to simply change and rotate the pictures that appear in my web galleries through my flickr page, whereas I was previously updating both.

Highly recommend this, however if you use multiple galleries you might have to turn off caching on the php.

For anyone who has Dreamweaver/Fireworks, there's a very good template available from Project VII called Image Gallery Magic.

http://www.projectseven.com/products/galleries/hgmagic/features.htm

Check out the various styles and transitions...it's really quite advanced, although individuals photographers can customize it to their needs.

Really enjoyed all the galleries posted here!

I just finished a pretty basic photography website/blog/portfolio

Not sure on if I like the design completely but it only took me about 1/2 a day to get it done.

here is mine...
it's about $150/year (half off 1st year if switching from Flickr) but I think it's worth it.
