tascam hd-p2 and cf cards
« on: September 24, 2006, 10:54:41 PM »
Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything with a search. Which 8 gig CF cards have people using the Tascam HD-P2 had the best luck with? Also, 4gig?

For 8GB: Transcend and PQI.  For 4GB: Kingston

some folks have also been using the Sandisk Ultra II series.  both 4 GB and 8 GB varieties, with zero problems

SANdisk 4gb card, regular edition, never had a problem.
According to Oade, regular speed is fine for recording. The speed difference is for when you transfer.

I have a Trancend 4gb that works great in the unit. ;D

Maybe the better question is who has come across CF cards that do NOT work in the deck...

4 gig PQI, here. No issues.  Just can't do 192 per the speed check.

I've used a Hitachi 4GB microdrive without any problems @ 24/48.  Also FWIW Kingston 2GB CF works great too.

I use a 4Gb SanDisk Ultra II. Prolly gonna get a 8Gb as well due to problems with my Transcend 8 Gb CF card.

I just had to return a Transcend 8Gb due to speed failure, but so far I'm one of only two people who have reported problems with this card.

I just received a new Transcend 8Gb 120x cf card and tested it out at all sampling rates and bit depths and it came through with flying colors so I must have just gotten a bad card the first time. They appear to be worth the cash savings if you choose to try it out.  ;D

side note: I tried recording a 24/192kHz sample and I was blown away at how realistic it sounded. Listening back to it i had to remove my headphones because I thought i had left my stereo on.  :o
