im on it ;D

they are  shipping from NY and shipping is only 1499 ;D so 40 dollars isnt bad shipped ;D

FWIW..  Neutrik told me that have big trouble with counterfeit speaker cables on ebay. Most of the Tiffany stuff on ebay was fake until ebay was sued for not doing much about it.

I've had great luck with my generics but will buy sony when I replace them.. Just not sure from where.

im having runtime problems w/ a generic 6800mah one i scored off of ebay, i have cycled it 3 or so times already and cant get more than 4-4.5 hrs out of it, thats with phantom on/backlight off/leds on lowest setting/and writing to the HD ONLY

i guess it did take my 6000mah one that came w/ the 722 about 3-4 cycles to maintain a 6.5 hr runtime but WTF ??? this thing is worrying me

once i get 3 more sony 6600mah ones i'll be selling these generics off anyway, and they'll already be cycled and everything :)

i think 4 x 6600 mah sony batts and a 4600mah batt should get me thru about any festie

im gonna try recording at 24/48 and see if i get much better runtimes that way

any info on other folks runtimes would be great, and also what style of batts you all are using

id ideally like to use the sony 6600mah batts and leave the backlight ON most of the time, but if i can get consistent 6 hrs of runtime w/ the backlight on, i guerss im gonna have to leave it off :P

oh and ive only recorded two shows with the 722 and LOVE IT, ive had it basically running for 2 weeks straight doing batt runtime tests, and the damn thing is a tapers dream, so easy to use and you can start recording w/ in about 5 secs from OFF>ON>RECORDING

cant wait for the two moe shows im doing next weekend too ;D

ok folks, so my 6800mah battery STILL wont condidtion/cycle and maintain a full charge for 6+ hrs like the otehr one

i talked to mojan at SS and she said if the lions sit on the shelf for longer than a few months, that is what happens :'( they dont condidtion well at alla nd lose teir ability to hold a good charge, and after this issues im having w/ this batt, i believe her 100%

so hopefully these genuine sony ones dont have this problem, otherwise, i'll be moving to 12v NIMH external power :(

The three 6000mAh packs I have from battery bank are all solid performers

The only issue is that when I run them in the sun (like Bonaroo) they get so hot that the female terminals want to stay on the male terminals and they slide out of the shell.  If you know to expect that, recovery is pretty easy but I think a speck of superglue would fix it.

this is weird, ive been cycling my 6000mah batteries and the first 2 times i ran each of them, i got 6+ hrs, now that ive cycled them a few times, ive only gotten 4+ hrs going phantom to 480's/backlight off/lcd on lowest/writing to the HD ???

WTF?

i got more time when i ran backlight on w/ them ???

im gonna keep trying, and fwiw, the batts are 970 ones off of ebay

Same here. My 6800maH only gets around 3hours now, and my
4600maH won't even take a charge and is totally dead. I got
4 hours with the 4600maH on the first run. If I could
consistently get 3 or 4 hours on the 4600maH, it would be
perfect, as I like the size better for stealthing.

okay, so i picked up a new Sony NP-F970 off eBay, plug it into the 722, and it doesn't appear to push all the way in, though i still need to push in the release button to get the battery out.  i assume it's making contact and it appears to be charging properly, yet after it's been "charged" i remove the power cord, press the On button, and i get nothing.  No juice, no nothing.  the only way to get this Sony battery to "come alive" is by plugging the AC adapter in, turning the 722 on, then removing the AC adapter on the fly, where the battery finally kicks in.

anyone else experience weird behavior such as this?  or might i have a beat battery?  at this point i'm not confident in this battery at all  :-\

thanks.

Okay, looks like I found my problem. A friend who owns a Sony camcorder brought it to work yesterday along with his NP-F960 battery, and I brought in my 722 and NP-F970 battery.

Plugged my NP-F970 into the camcorder and voila, it slid right onto the contacts, clicking into place, and the unit powered right up, no problem. Grabbed his NP-F960 and slid it onto the 722 and "click"...full contact with the 722's terminals, covering them completely as they should, with the release button fully up and...lo & behold, the 722 powered right up.

I took both batteries and placed them side by side, contacts up, and noticed the wells on one looked deeper than the other. Grabbed a toothpick and placed it (gently) into the contact wells of each battery, and what did I find? The 960 wells are 4/16" deep, the 970 wells are 3/16" deep, therefore the lack of full contact on the 722 with the NP-F970. How about that?

So, at this point I am looking to cut my losses as I'm past the 7-day return period so I ask my pal if he'd be up for a battery trade and he was. He gets a higher-capacity Sony battery for his camcorder and I get a Sony battery that while not as high in capacity, gives me peace of mind and a working battery, so we both win.

I just wonder if this is a known problem on all NP-F970's? I was tempted to push the wells in to see if they'd go deeper but didn't want to risk puncturing the well bottom.

Anyway, just wanted to share this for the record in case anyone else has the same, or a similar, problem.

Keith

i exclusively use the genuine np-f970's and with the exception of one dud i got on eBay that wouldn't take a charge I have had Zero problems with them fitting properly

i have read otherwise about Li-ion batteries - i thought that li-ion batteries were immune to memory effect and don't need to be conditioned/cycled, can anyone else chime in on this?
