DIY - Dye dead rats!

I thought I took some photos of the movo dead rats before when they are grey, but it looks like I did not.
I then though I grabbed a photo of the rats boiling in the bot of dye as they boiled for about 4 hours.... you know the story...

I like purple, and while it's not black I would assume one could dye their own movo dead rats black just as easily.
I used this type of Jacquard dye for polyester
iDye Poly
(I know it's a funny name)

I had the WS 2 for a couple of years for the Milab DC196's over the stock Milab Foam screens.  I got some WS-50's  to try on the VM 44's then decided to dye them , so I figured I should also get a set of WS1's to go over my  Sennheiser MZW 8000foam screens  that I se on the Milab VM44 links and others.

You apparently feel insecure about yourself, and want people to see your mics and know that - damn! that taper is pretty cool! Or not. I always feel self conscious about having my mics up in the first place, because they can block/interfere with people having a good view of the stage, not the least of which is the sound engineer, especially when I'm running FOB in the sweet spot. I'll always go for the low profile, black is the way to go.

Feel the same way.
Keep the mics low profile, and especially out of the way of the sound crew...

What odd responses, how does the color affect their 'profile' or degree they interfere with other's view?

Nothing wrong with having your dead rats being a bit festive.  You can order them in any color you want, including rainbow, from Tim Brown on the Retail forum.  Why be monochrome?  I have blue and black ones myself.

All are entitled to opinions...  even if you jump to conclusions or wrong caonnection, they are your opinions... share them if you wish.
Has anyone else done DIY dye'ing of their dead rats? Than's all I was attempting to share here.

Mostly I only use dead rats outdoors, but sometimes indoors  where large fans or hvac systems are in use... here's one from the NYE Fruition Run.

I did say one could use black dye... I like purple... it was an experiment, I just did not want them the stock light grey of the movo's
I was/am sharing the process and pricnciple... so you can feel free to Do It Yourself - or not, if you don't want to.

Color choice is up to you, just like flavor of microphones and pre-amps.

Pick any color you want or go with the movo grey.

The purple is actually dark enough that at night or with house lights down they look black.
In daylight yes they are deep purple. Make em screaming bright pink if you want... I don't care.
Movo's are an inexpensive dead rat option - for under $20 you can have a set, but they only come in light grey.  if you want them in black or another color you can DIY them....

Remember to have fun and always have fun recording.... or complain about it if you wish, it's up to you.

:)
