A funky emergency AC power option...
« on: December 04, 2004, 06:13:22 AM »
Well,
I just bought a mindv camcorder and was waiting on some slow ass Ebay sellers to ship me some decent batteries for it.   So I went I went emergency mode and did a quick cord adapter creation for my 12V Ni-MH battery.   I made an RC connecter to female cigarette lighter adapter cord.   Then hook it up to the battery and voila, you've got a mock-car situation.   Now I grab my inverter which I already owned previously and plugged the car lighter from it into it and had AC power!    Then plugged the wallwart from the funky minidv cord and instant power.   Tested voltage on everything to make sure both values were the same being plugged into wall and battery and they were.    This is *highly* inefficient to go DC to AC to DC of course so not recommended for regular use...but it is sure a great emergency power option to have on hand.

And to think I was about to lug that huge jump start thing to the concert LOL...the 4000 mAH battery was much lighter than that ;)
