Need to do a firmware update and have no clue how to save the update to the root directory. Or what a rooot directory is.
-
The first thing you seen when you open the card is the root directory, not something inside of a folder.
-
. Or what a rooot directory is.
Root is the top-level directory, the one that includes everything on the card.
Go in, and go, up until you can't, and then you're at the root.

You gotta start making some of these questions in PMs... :yack:
I don't mind humiliation. :help:
-
Still no gonthe file is on the card but tells me "no file" dammit
-
What? :help:
-
Use this, and you'll be all set. I recommend setting it to Erase OverWrite if you're having any kind of trouble with the card, though there's no need to do that every time.

You may be looking at root of local storage (the phone's own memory)

It's a Fiio x1 not a phone but thanks.
-
One more shot and I might take you up on that Ben. Really nice offer.
-
i just looked at the fiio site and all the firmware updates are zipped files,so you need to(if you already didn't)unzip the file or right click and extract all.Thats the file you need on your card the fiio won't see a zipped file.
-
I'm not getting an extract all option when I right click, is there another way to unzip? Thanks!
-
They are apparently unzipped already because I was able to zip the files.
-
What size is your micro SD card?
If the update process fails, please change to use a blank micro SD card with capacity under 32GB, and directly format it by the X1II before upgrading again.
-
I'm running a Sandisk 16 for the update

You mean you popped the card out, into a card reader in your PC, and ran this utility on it?
If you did, and the card otherwise works other places, then the card can be ruled out as the culprit.

So finally got the update done, thanks all. Came down to formatting the fresh card in the device rather than fat32 in my PC. That apparently was the difference, once I formatted the card in Fiio the update worked. The instructions in the "about f1" folder clearly state to format in the device, I'd not looked at those. thanks all, most appreciated!!!
