744t: Issues when adjusting levels...
« on: September 30, 2006, 01:17:21 PM »
Has anybody else had problems when making slight level adjustments with the knobs on the front?

I don't run channels 1 and 2 linked.

Example: I want to drop Channel 1 down 0.5 dB from 35.0 dB to 34.5 dB, Channel 2 also moves down, say 0.2 dB from 35.0 dB to 34.8 dB. So I try to boost Channel 2 back up and Channel 1 follows along. Now I'm all over the place! Sometimes I'll boost one channel and the other will drop. WTF?

This has happened more than once. I've been trying to pay attention to whether this is something being caused by me (ie - my finger lightly touches the other knob), but I think I can rule this out.

I'm going to mention this to Sound Devices when I send the unit in for the v2.0 hardware upgrade.

I have noticed the same thing on my 722. Most of the time I have noticed it it has been negligible. +/- .5db so I have never seen it as an issue and never bothered to mention it. I know exactly what you are talking about though. It is present on 2.0 too, so it must be something in the pots?
I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
