Title: 24 /48 audio file not importing into Vegas 6.0
Post by: fanofthemule on November 06, 2008, 03:54:22 PM
I'm not doing this project myself but the person working on it for me is having a problem importing the 24/48 audio file into Vegas 6.0.  Is this not suported?  Should he just dumb these down using foobar to import them?

First, I don't use Vegas.  No experience with it, just to be up front.  I have used Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.

In most cases, the video program is looking for 48/16-bit recordings.  It may be stumped on your 24-bit sampling.

Also, you refer to this as an "audio file" -- what format is it?  Generally, video programs will import AIFF, WAV and MP3 and Final Cut Pro likes .MOV audio files, too.

You might tell your friend just to re-export at 48/16-bit and see if Vegas likes that better.   :)

He must have a problem with his install.  No offense, but could he have a bootlegged copy?  24/28 imports fine for me.

Can confirm 24/48 WAVs as working in Vegas 8.0b and 8.0c.

You can put almost any audio or video or still on a vegas timeline and it will cut right through it, transposing and adjusting behind the gui.  Vegas has always been known for this excellent ability..  these must be something wrong with your install... I've been using it since version 4 and it has always been able to take any audio format and work with it.

Best,
