External power for IRiver?
« on: June 02, 2006, 11:02:00 AM »
I'm in need of external power for my IRiver for when I hit Bonnaroo in a few weeks. Any recommendations? The cheaper the better. :)

Just make your own. 4 x 1.2v AA batts. Cost me about $5 plus batteries.  I think i mention it in the iriver taping faq. otherwise i think there's a guide in the misticriver wiki somewhere. Will post the links in the morning if no-one has beaten me to it.

Jesus with that bad boy on I can't imagine how many hours you could get recording.

The Iriver battery is already so sweet, and even external battery has to be the cheapest, longest, smallest, and easiest for the Iriver (I remember those JB3 threads sometimes those things cost $30 - $50 and were big and bulky).

Ahh don't we love the Iriver :)

Why external?
Replacing the internal battery with a 2200 mAH one is easy.
Isn't the normal internal enough for you?

Bonnaroo = camping I'd assume... = no power to juice up the internal battery.

I needed a similar solution for a festival earlier this year.

12+ hours is not enough?
In that case indeed you will need something external.

12hrs over 3 days does not a happy battery make.

The FAQ has it listed as "up to 8 hrs" of battery life. Is this wrong?

That power thing linked above comes from this company, they have a whole line of iRiver products.

Not so much 'wrong' as 'subjective'.

The standard battery will likely run you about 8 hrs digital or 12 hrs analog (as cpu boosting is no longer required thanks to some recent changes).  I haven't seen any test results posted recently, so would be happy for anyone to prove me wrong.  I haven't tested on a standard battery for about 9 months now i think.  I'm running of my 2200mAh baby.
