I'm making a battery box for a friend, thee circuit's fine but I'm a bit stuck on the housing for the connectors and components, while trying to make it as small as possible.
Here's what I've done with half a tic tac box, although the plastic isn't too strong...

sometimes you can find good deals on a variety of stuff at All Electronics Corp. http://www.allelectronics.com/ The inventory changes a little over time since they buy up closeouts. but sometimes you can find stuff at a real good price and sometimes not.

That's it. Take the battery holder you've got. Wire everything "point-to-point" (ie., no breadboard) on the end or back of the holder. Then cover it with epoxy or hot melt glue. Finish up with a layer of gaffers tape and you're good to go :).

Ended up getting one of the smaller Hammond enclosues after looking at some DIY DC distros (that'll be the next project) which used them (acutually I think the PSC and remote audio distro boxes also use this enclosure too)

Looks like the eclipse mints are called 'wrigleys extra mints' over here, I found some just after ordering the enclosure

I have a couple small metal project boxes like 3"x4". If anyone wants 'em just send me a few bucks to cover shipping.

that's a nice little enclosure. i went with the mint tin as i can pull it out of my pocket and it just looks like i'm carrying some mints instead of some sort of electronics ;)
