pre recommendations for ADK TL's...
« on: May 02, 2004, 05:18:25 PM »
in the next couple of weeks i'm hopefully gonna be getting back into taping and have been trying to figure out what i want to run w/ them.  right now i'm leaning towards the pmod ua5.  my max spending limit will be around $500.  i thought about maybe a mp2 but not sure what a/d i'd run w/ it.  any other pre's that i'm overlooking?

I like my warm mod with the TLs....an mp2 would be nice as well I bet.   Honestly...I think if you're gonna be in the $500 range go with the p or w mod ua-5...it doesn't get much better.

ditto what Brian said...

ya that's what i've been thinking....i can get a nice pre & a/d in one package.  just wondering what some other options are since i've already ran the pmod....i'd like to try out some diff. combos w/ the TL's and see how they sound.

mp-2, psp-2, psp-3, or brick for color
v3 or v2 for transparency
ua5 package or ad1k for the all in one deal

The beauty of these mics is you can color them as much as you want with a preamp since they're so neutral

I would say the V3 in a hearbeat if you could afford, so far loving that sound with my TL's

i really liked the v2 w/ the ADK's, but the problem is what a/d to run behind it.  i can't afford a mod sbm right now so i'd have to use the jb3 for my a/d and i have a feeling its not worth a shit.  eventually i'd like to get back to a v2 & mod sbm or just a v3....but that may be a while.  looks like right now the only affordable option is the mod ua5....

so you are really looking for an all in one unit?
No Mics
Clamps
Cables
No Preamp
Recorders

kinda moot, in your price range, if you want an all in one, it's the ua-5.
