Loud, loud "self-noise" on a Dell Latitude E6410
« on: October 14, 2011, 11:45:11 PM »
Sometimes my only option for listening to music is via my laptop and headphones (Sony MDR-7506), but the self-noise (of the laptop/headphone jack) is just horrendous.

I found a USB "sound card" online, wondering if anyone has any idea if that will be any better?

For 15 bucks I might just try it out, not too much to lose.

I guess a lot would depend on the quality of the USB device.

Also, before you shell out money for it, try muting any analog inputs on the laptop.
