audiophile 2496...I use it with XP and it works great

I've been real happy with my EgoSys Waveterminal 2496. Not sure they still make 'em, might have been superseded by a newer model. At any rate, works well for me.
FWIW, I've also heard good things about the Audiophile 2496.

I personally won't use any other sound "card" than Mark of the Unicorn's stuff. Their A/D, D/A chips are awesome. The down side is they only come rack mountable, so there isn't any hiding the fact that you own one because it isn't just a card that fits inside your computer.
I own the 2408mkII, which won't do 96 kHz sampling only 44.1 or 48 KHz (for those rare 32 kHz tapes that I stumble across, I have to go analog in). A newer version will do 24/96.
