X type tape formulations
« on: March 04, 2007, 07:52:58 AM »
I recently had a Nakamichi CR7A casette deck repaired, aligned and some parts replaced.  I was under the opinion that the X type tape formulations with a dual layer were a "better" choice for long term masters since there was less propensity for layer bleed thru. The service department recommended against using this tape type.  Just wondering why this might be the case.  I have used my NAk machines in the past for SA as well as SAX and similarly with metal formulations and the adjustment range for level and bios seem to cover the differences with no problems.  I have sent the question to them, just looking for general tape type selection by forum members.  I mostly use my tascam DA-P1 now for live recording but still love my Naks.
