radio shack 1/8"mono phone plug part #274-286
« on: July 21, 2008, 10:03:15 AM »
im using these to make a power cable to go from a RS 9.6v RC battery to a ps-2.

my question is this....when you unscrew the connector, which part goes to the tip, and which to the sleeve?

thanks in advance!

The tip should be +, ring should be -.  I hope that's what you're asking.

I second the multi-meter suggestion.  then you will know FOR SURE, if it's wired correctly ;).  use the continuity setting to check your soldering, then check the polarity and voltage using the DC voltage setting.

Harbor Freight has some cheap ones that are fine for your use.  You can do lots of things with one...  Good to have!
