Cassette deck for home using
« on: December 30, 2009, 12:29:01 PM »
Hi guys, I have some cassettes from the '80s-'90s laying in my room..
I'm thinking of buying a cassette deck but I have no clue.. could you give me some advice?
The ideal cassette player for me should..
-be cheap (less than 100 €)
-available in Europe
-be second hand or brand new, I don't mind
-have an ouput (analog or, it would be great, digital)
-have a fixable azimuth

What is the right deck?  :D

In the day it was Nakamichi.

Since I transcribe the cassette tapes, for one time use, to a digital format, I use an inexpensive Sony.

Sony no baloney.

I had the feeling that the Nak brand would come up.
Since I'm a noob, what are the right models?
I know that azimuth setting is important, perhpas I can do it with my hands without the feature on the player..

You also may want to look for Sony ES models because they may be a bit easier to find than Nakamichis.  I have a KA2ES and while I rarely use it now, it was a rock-solid deck.  It doesn't have an adjustable azimuth, but I believe that one of the other Sony ES models does.

Analog.  I don't know of any analog cassette decks with digital outputs.

Heck yeah I do....it is basically in pristine condition, as I bought it right before I bought my first DAT machine in 1996 and left the analog scene behind.  I'm the 2nd owner and may even have the original manual.  How much do you think it is worth?

Honestly I don't know...  But the shipping may put it over the top...  Where are you located???

I just found a Sony ES locally that I'm looking to pick up tomorrow.  But I've dreamed of owning a Nak Deck for a loooooong time.

To be honest, I have about 10x cassettes I want to transfer, then I'm out of the analog game, so it may not be economical for me to pay to have your deck shipped...

I figure it is worth about $125, something like that, plus shipping....
