Is a "buzzing" Tekkeon MP3450 normal?
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:36:28 AM »
Hey all,

I just purchased a MP3450 and noticed that it's emitting a very faint "tzzzz" buzz/hiss when the thing it turned on. Even better - when charging my microtack2 it makes the battery in the MT2 do the same thing, but at a slightly higher frequency (that doesn't happen with stock charger).

Is this normal? I contacted Tekkeon and they say a faint sound is normal when the MP3450 is charging itself, but this also happens when using the USB or DC-out cords, even with nothing attached. I'm hoping it's some harmless power-cycling circuitry and I don't need to send this back.

Anyone else have a similiar experience?

I have a Tekkeon for my V3 & the thing HUMS when it's fully charged. The first time I heard it I freaked out, thought it was about to explode. I've only encountered it while charging though, not running....

Cool, thanks - It's really not very audible (pretty much have to hold it to my ear like a cell phone in order to hear it), but I'm gunna exchange it just to be safe. Doesn't seem right that it should make any noise on discharge.

I have the older one. I guess it's the 3300. It doesn't make any sounds.
