I believe they are stereo, so do you run a pair of these mics or just run one of these...they seem to be from the earlier years of taping and Grateful Dead days when people just hand held them etc.

I have found 2 of them on ebay and wanted to try them out.

Just checking into the TS.com knowledge base before I buy them.

thanks in advance!

alas, I am stoopid, but i know that much lol

Anyways, just wanted to know how they sounded.  Quality of mic etc.

The only reason I wondered about running 2 stereo mics was that ppl had listed in source info for shows from mid 70s dead shows something like:

Sony Ecm 99's>recorder etc.

couldnt figure it out

had this mic plural.

sony ecms are ultra entry level mics though, a waste of money if you have ANY other mics to use

ECM-907/908 are good mics, but best for acoustic stuff.  The low frequency response is poor, but they have very low noise, and great stereo imaging (they are MS mics).  They are self-powered too.

whatever works i guess, i just can't get myself to actually listen to anything taped with ECMs.  the tapes tend to sound really brittle and dry and unfortunately the majority of metal stealth tapes are made with these things.  then again I've been called a gear snob and i'm very picky about sound quality, so do whatever works for you.  just don't expect these to sound any better than the standard ecm tapes that flood dime and ttd.
