Topic: rechargeable 9v's w/battery box?

I'm tired of buying new batteries every for my battery box all the time, and I'm too paranoid to use the same battery more than a few shows, so I was hoping to get a rechargeable going...  but I talked to the guy at a battery store and he said that the rechargeables have a significantly lower run-time than an alkaline 9v?

Are we talking too low to power SP-CMC-4 mics w/ SP battery box here for the duration of a 3hr show?   I'm gonna be seeing a lot more shows in the future, and I'd like to just splurge now and get a couple of rechargeables and a great charger if I can do it, rather than buying another brick of throwaway 9v's.
