HDMI CEC Issue

I have a WiiU which is killing CEC on my home entertainment system.  Has anyone here every removed pin 13 from an HDMI cable successfully?  I see a bunch of people on line "pulling" out the contact.


There are a few pre made cables/adapters on the market with the pin removed but they seem a little expensive
