« on: July 12, 2013, 09:50:49 AM »
i have been using the Battery Geeks 9/12-66 "Freedom E" to power my R-44 and it has always performed flawlessly.  since it's never come close to dying during a show or a festival i was curious how long it would actually last.  i ran a home test last night with a 2-channel setup and am sharing the results in case anyone is interested.

Current: 3.33 amps (max)
Capacity: 8000 mAh

Marking thread. On the fence about purchasing r-44. Sounds like it is easy to power, so that's good...

bass_ur_face, are your microphones the AKG C 451 EB from the 1970s, which were very power-hungry (~6 mA per microphone at 48 Volts!), or are they the more recent (electret) C 451 B that only take about 1/3 as much current?

(If you have the older type, its capsules are readily removable / replaceable / interchangeable with capsules of other patterns from the same series. The newer type is a fixed-pattern cardioid.)

sorry for the delayed response... they are the 451EB bodies that allow for interchangeable capsules.
