Title: DVD+R question
Post by: Bri on February 14, 2004, 05:35:27 PM
ok folks, I am super new to DVD recording and am using a standalone home burner. If I want to record DVD discs from my camcorder to my DVD burner and play them back in all other players, do I need to record them in 2 hour length? Cant seem to find any info anywhere....

;)
cheers!

bri;

it's all abou the compression bitrate.  a simple analogy would be the bitrate used for MP3.  you can turn a 3 minute song into various size MP3 by varying the bitrate. the higher the bitrate, better the quality, but larger the file size.

it's the same for DVD's mpeg2 compression.  you have a finite file capacity on a single layer DVD, so you can vary the bitrate to fit a 2hr program onto a disc.

how cool is it to run your own message board? You can have a personal question that is completely offtopic and just snap your fingers and make a new forum dedicated to your offtopic personal questions.

I KID!
