cool, a friend was just telling me about this on friday and I thought it sounded pretty interesting.  I know nothing about electrical stuff, does anybody know if it would be possible to wire this up with multiple batteries to get a longer run time?  I guess it wouldn't be that hard to switch out a battery but I still think having 2 or 3 batteries plugged in would be nice for bringing to a festival or something.

Just run it with a "Walmart" type battery.  Either 7.2V or 9V will work.

Note: you should add a heatsink on that 7805 regulator if there is any significant current!

So could this be used to charge a M Audio MicroTracker 24/96?

It would charge it or it could be used to power it in the field.

I'm sure you could make it yourself for cheaper, but someone is selling premade ones in altoids tins for $15

Also, I may want to try and make this thing myself to hook up to a dvd battery.  But I know very little about electronics.  Can anyone recommend some beginning electonics websites or books?  This project doesn't look too hard, but I'm really not good at reading those circuit diagram thingies.
