Nevaton MCE 400
« on: February 17, 2009, 05:00:44 PM »
Hi!

Does anyone have a picture of a stereopair of nevaton mce 400?
Preferably with some coin reference or something.

Secondly, would a phantom unit like danecke ps-2 mini work good with those mic + an edirol r09?

If using the above setup is there a need for a low sens mod if recording loud stuff?

Thanks!

N

http://www.nevaton-microphones.com/lavalier.php

the pic doesn't have a coin - but you get the idea, very small but not as small as some other lavs.

i have only ran my set once but i was impressed in how the recording came out.

based on the data on the website above 135dB SPL i think you should be all set at a loud show, but i am no expert.

The nevatons are tiny, barely larger than dpa 4060's and smaller than at853's.

The denecke ps-2 will work perfectly.

Better find a used pair, the factory is all out and is unsure when a new batch will be produced (all their mics are handmade).  Contact TNJazz on this board for more info.

No, but you will have to choose between line or mic in on the R-09, depending on the recording situation.
You either record it or it's gone forever.

The Nevaton MCE400 spec sheet lists them as pressure gradiant mics but omnidirectional pattern.  How does that work??????

probably a typo.  they are not available in any patterns other than omni.

which spec sheet are you referring to?

It's on the Nevaton Europe web site, a pdf file.  How would you make a pressure gradiant omni??  And what other than price would rcommend these over DPA 4060s for omnis?

the Euro distributor site has been the source of erroneous information in the past - I would guess it was either a bad cut/paste job on their part or on Nevaton's part.

What other than price makes them a good recommendation over Dpa's?  Have you heard them?  Many people find them much more pleasing to listen to and nearly (but perhaps not quite) as detailed.

Just go down to team Hebatoh and listen to posted samples.

I own a pair, much much more pleasing to my ears than the dpa's.  Of course, that is my ears telling me this.
