LC-3 repair?
« on: August 24, 2009, 12:28:10 PM »
Has anyone ever had to have their LC-3 cables repaired? One of the two on mine no longer passes a signal. I'm hoping it can be repaired as I'd like to avoid spending so much money on a brand new one.

Yes.  I had a cable go intermittent and then completely out.  I sent it to neumann, they shortened the cable a few inches past the break and the other cable to match the length, and no problem since.  Turnaround was quick.

I sent an email asking about repair of the LC-3 and below is the response. I mailed the cable on Friday so I'm hoping but not counting on it working again:

Hi Rob,

Though (unfortunately) it is likely that your cable is not repairable, we can certainly take a look at it. Just send it to us,
and we'll let you know how things look. Our address is:

Sennheiser Electronic Corp
Attn: Service Department
1 Enterprise Drive
Old Lyme, CT 06371

Thanks for your business!

Best regards,

I think if they determine that it is the cable itself instead of repairing it they simply replace it.  They can also cut a LC-3 KA cable to any custom length you choose.

Thank goodness I have never had one go bad.  I don't use the 5m cables anymore since moving up to the 10m.  These are not cheap to replace.

I sent it in to Sennheiser about three weeks ago and got it back yesterday. Sennheiser repaired the bad Lemo cable and were great to work with. Per PhillR's advice/contact info, I emailed them and got a quick resonse saying they probably wouldn't be able to repair but to send it to them and they'd be happy look at it. Not sure what they did as far as the repair but they are working now and total price of repair.......?

$65.00!   ;D

Mucho thanks to Sennheiser and PhillR!

I recall that Redstrat had the pin break off on one of the connectors...I can't recall if he just replaced the whole cable or had it repaired...good to know at least under some circumstances they can fix them relatively inexpensively, as a new cable is not cheap.
