Weird hum in a SBD source how to fix?
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:56:19 PM »
Have a SBD source that I'm wanting to matrix with my AUD recording.  It has an odd hum in it.  FOH gave me a mono feed, so far I've converted it to stereo but cannot figure out how to get this hum out of it or at least lower it so it's less noticeable.  I have Soundforge Pro 11 or Adobe Audition 3.0 to use.  If someone could walk me through this I would be grateful!  I will upload a sample tomorrow so that you can hear what I'm talking about
Mics: Schoeps MK4's, Telefunken TF11's, Busman BSC2's, DPA 4061's
Preamps: Audioroot Femto, DPA MMA-A
Recorders: Sound Devices MixPre 6-II, Tascam DR2d, Sound Devices MixPre 6-I

hum, often electrical ground issues.
in the US 60 hz and it's fundamentals can be notched with an EQ.

FOH gave me a mono feed

1) Since its mono just copy the good channel over the bad channel. (if left channel has hum, just copy right channel to left)
2) Wave Z-noise can take out a frequency if you have that plugin.
Everyday is a gift. Enjoy each one!
