SDC: The CAD C9 is pretty nice for the price!
« on: March 15, 2017, 08:00:00 AM »
I bought a set of these for my PA to use as overheads.

I did one show with my PA, used one on overhead - and thought it sounded nice.

So I gave them a run at a show - for 89 bucks a pair - these are pretty nice!

(Stick with the first part of the show for samples - it was a good mix - but something starts to break as the second set wears on - blown tweeter or some other digi-sizzle.)

I've had the Behringer C-2s - and these are WAY better.

Spec wise this is not too great

Frequency Response: 40Hz -13KHz

but in practice for PA recording there is so little content above 6-7kHz I wouldn't worry about it all that much. Sample sounds pretty good on my computer with little add on speaker at work.

Wouldn't use them recording a chamber orchestra though...

I looked them up because I need a throwaway set I can use for a fourth stage at a festy or maybe loan out on occasion and not worry about their return. I picked up two for $50.  https://www.mightymics.com/collections/condenser/products/cad-c9-cardioid-condenser-stereo-instrument-mics-1

Your recording sounds like they're good enough for that money.
