How do I get to root directory on micro SD card?

Need to do a firmware update and have no clue how to save the update to the root directory. Or what a rooot directory is.  :facepalm:

The first thing you seen when you open the card is the root directory, not something inside of a folder.

Root is the top-level directory, the one that includes everything on the card.

Go in, and go, up until you can't, and then you're at the root.

Still no gonthe file is on the card but tells me "no file" dammit
