Portable headphone amp for pcm10

Bought an ebay pcm10 for steathing. Thanks jb63 for sending me the accessories he had in his closet ebay purchase was for the unit only.
It appears that the cmoy does not have the best op amps or rails for our use but bioscience geek on ebay does some interesting customized options. The objective 2 is described as much better unit with increased efficiencies and gain selection switch. Is the objective 2 realistically a decent field unit for our uses? The best one is 18v (2x9v rechargeable) with gain switch 2.5 3.3, 6.5 or 8x.

It depends a lot on what headphones you're using.  Maybe just get an easier to drive pair of headphones?
